Brechfa Forest

Brechfa Forest is a mixture of ancient woodland from a medieval hunting forest that was expanded for timber production over 80 years ago forming the largest man made forest in Europe.

The section of Brechfa Forest adjacent to Gilfach Wen is a mixture of ancient woodland and an area managed for timber production. The footpath running through this woodland provides guests with a link to a circular walk from Brechfa Village through farmland and along the banks of the River Cothi.

Brechfa Forest stretches down the Cothi Valley, covering over 50 square miles in total. The forest is open access for walkers, cyclists and horse riders. There are published circular walks from different car parks around the edge of the forest.
